Lead a Quiet Life

Every word in this recreation of ambition presents a challenge to my old mode of operations and the environment that I reside.

There is not all that much that is quiet today. Noise abounds in the background, noise abounds from the screens, and noise abounds in my head. Quiet is pretty foreign in the moment.

Then there is “lead”. I thought to “lead” was an action that put a man on point in front of other men. Today, it seems that everyone is being developed to be a leader. A leader in their field. A leader in their organization. A leader in their battalion. But, “lead” to a quiet life? Hmmm…doesn’t seem like that will lead to many followers.

Then there is “life”. What a frame. Life is such a word that challenges time definitions. Does one mean the life they are living today in this very moment? Does one mean the life that they may live for the next few decades? Does one mean the story of their life lived that may even go beyond the days of life experienced in this reality?

Lead a Quiet Life? Lead who? How? For how long?

Found Life

A friend first pointed out the obvious. He said, “Every now and then, it really makes sense to find what you’re seeking in that which is all around you.”

A few months later, as I stood outside peering into yet another big picture, it finally took hold. The search is over. Found life. Things haven’t been the same since.

And yet, what about those of us who still aren’t seeing it? Whether they are inside the big picture or standing outside on the fringes, it seems too many are still out and about in some sort of “talking about knowing the way to find life” search parties.

The ironic thing though is the way to find life is to live the life that life is giving us. Found life. Ever since, the talking about knowing has waned to barely a peep.
